We have now reopened, however due to Covid Restrictions,
you must now book your visit in advance.

ReOpening Information

Reopening of the Raptor Foundation We have had to make some changes to our reopening due to new guidelines sent to us. This unfortunately means we will now reopen on MAY 1st! Although zoological collections are allowed to open from 12th April, in accordance to new government guidelines we are not allowed to carry out public flying displays until May 17th. We feel the viability of opening so early without been able to provide public flying displays cannot be justified for a small collection. We are still routinely training & exercising birds & will be doing so from May 1st too, but without commentary & no public seating, until May 17th. Experiences that have been booked will still be going ahead as planned as we are allowed to move forward with them. From May 1st: - Tickets need to be booked here and capacity is limited! - Only outdoor spaces will be available. This means our Cafe will be closed (except for takeaway) & our reptile house will remain closed. - Adhere to the 'Rule of 6'. In England the rule of 6 includes children - NHS Test and Trace check-in will be required for all over 16's within the group (This is a legal requirement for all members of a party) - No public flying displays until May 17th. - All COVID restrictions on site will remain, this includes facemasks when passing through our reception & Cafe, social distancing when in the park & adhering to our 1-way system. We know you were looking forward to visiting from Monday, we were so excited to have you back. This new guidance against public flying displays does feel like an unfair kick in the teeth. Thank you all for bearing with us & we hope you can understand our decision to delay opening just a little bit longer. If you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to contact us between 10 am - 5 pm on (Tel:01487 741140 or Email: info@raptorfoundation.org.uk)
  • Full Day Falconry Experience

Minimum Age Requirement is 16 Years.

This full-day experience is designed to give you an insight into the needs, housing and care of a bird of prey including flying and handling owls, hawks and falcons and can be tailored to suit you. You will be greeted on arrival and taken for tea or coffee, this is where you are introduced to your falconer for the day and they take you through a brief safety talk.

Now onto the best bit because we all know handling and flying the birds is the exciting and thrilling part of the day. You will get to handle some of the most majestic and fascinating birds including the Barn Owl, European Eagle Owl, Kestrel, Buzzard and much more. The theory of falconry and the equipment used will be explained during the course of your day.

Now its time to get the heart racing, as we get ready to fly. There is no better feeling than having a bird of prey land on your fist. Whether it’s a small owl or an eagle the buzz is something you will remember forever. To round off your day, you will get a certificate of completion and a photograph of you holding a bird of your choice (within reason).
